Czechia’s three largest mobile phone operators – T-Mobile, Vodafone, and O2 – have each launched new summer promotions to attract new customers, reward existing ones, and give people more benefits this summer. Data is the main focus, with each provider offering generous deals and discounts on mobile data to connect to the Internet. Here's an overview of what’s on offer.

Cheaper tariffs, more options with T-Mobile

T-Mobile has announced the launch of its new “Next” tariff portfolio, which is the biggest development out of all the main carriers. This latest offering promises more generous doses of mobile data for customers with attractive bonuses, such as unlimited data on all weekends and a two-month discount for those switching from older tariffs. The offers consist of three basic tariffs with limited data, four with unlimited data, and four specifically designed for customers under the age of 26 (students).

According to T-Mobile, the basis of the Next tariff portfolio is the offering of the Next 5 GB, Next 8 GB, and Next 12 GB tariffs. These tariffs give unlimited minutes and SMSs to all networks.

The basic tariff, Next 5 GB (giving 5 gigabytes of data per month), will cost CZK 595, CZK 25 less than the previous “Tariffs 2022” offer. T-Mobile also newly offers unlimited weekend data; the Next 8 GB tariff provides 8 gigabytes of data per month, with unlimited data use on the weekend. This costs CZK 695 monthly, and the 12 GB tariff also provides limitless weekend data usage, costing CZK 745 monthly.

The new Next portfolio also includes four “Next Unlimited” tariffs (which means unlimited calls and SMSs, compared to five in the previous offer). Prices have slightly increased, but customers now have more data at full speed.

For example, the Next Unlimited XL tariff offers 5 GB more data at full speed for CZK 1,085. Additionally, customers can activate a free annual membership in the AlzaPlus+ program, providing free delivery and discounts on select goods.

The two highest unlimited data tariffs, Next Unlimited 4XL and Next Unlimited 5XL, also include bonuses such as 1,000 international minutes and access to the Max streaming service from Warner Bros. Discovery.

T-Mobile also offers a range of student-friendly tariffs, which became available in late June. For example, the Next Data 5 GB package provides 150 minutes of calls and SMSs per month, and 5 gigabytes of data monthly for under CZK 500. Student data lovers can get totally unlimited data, as well as calls and SMSs, for CZK 905 monthly.

Navigating the myriad of mobile phone tariff offers from all providers is as confusing as it is overwhelming – not to mention time-consuming. Data doubled with O2

O2 has also recently announced summer promotions for customers, with a similar focus on offering more data. From July 1 to Aug. 31, new and existing customers will have access to twice as many days of unlimited data as part of the operator's summer holiday offer. Additionally, customers can receive discounts on a wireless Bluetooth speaker and a GPS-tracking chip.

According to O2, the promotion applies to all basic tariffs, including Neo+ Start, Bílý, Mini, Light, Basic, and Můj first tariff. This means that instead of the usual one day of unlimited data, customers will now have two days per month of limitless data during the summer months. For customers on the most-expensive tariffs, which already include five days of unlimited data, this promotion will provide a total of 10 days per month.

An unlimited data, SMS, and calls package costs just under CZK 1,000. A cheaper variant is the 4 GB package, which also offers unlimited calls and SMSs. This costs CZK 599 per month.

To activate the free unlimited data, customers can do so through the My O2 application. The bonus days will be displayed as a gift in the Data section. If a customer uses up all of their available free days, they can purchase an additional unlimited day for CZK 49.

O2 also has a student-friendly option, which offers unlimited data for under CZK 700, or 10 GB of data for CZK 499.

In addition to free data, customers can also take advantage of discounts on select products. With a discount code from the My O2 app, customers can purchase a compact wireless bluetooth speaker, the O2 beam, for CZK 299 – a discount of over CZK 300.

More data on prepaid cards with Vodafone

Vodafone has launched a summer promotion for prepaid customers, offering free extra data during the months of June, July, and August. Customers who purchase packages from the “Data+SMS” or “Komplet” package will receive an additional 5 GB of data each month, with some packages offering up to 10 GB of free data.

The promotion is available for both existing and new prepaid customers and will run until the end of August. Customers can receive 5 GB of extra data each month, for a total of 15 GB during the promotion period.

In addition, some packages offer even more free data. For example, the “Unlimited network calls + 1.5 GB” package will now include a total of 6.5 GB of data for CZK 149 per month.

The package with 10 GB of data and unlimited SMS in the network will now include an extra 10 GB of data, giving customers a total of 20 GB for CZK 399 per month. To redeem the free extra data, customers should use the My Vodafone mobile app.

New customers can also take advantage of the promotion by purchasing the limited edition Zlatá karta (Golden Card) for CZK 249. This will include a total of 20 GB of data for CZK 200 per month. The Zlatá karta can be purchased on the Vodafone website, in stores, or from select partners.

Vodafone may be a good option for people who want unlimited data: the carrier offers limitless data use for under CZK 700, as well as offering a CZK 1,000 discount on accessories when you sign up to a contract. Students can also save: those with an ISIC can get unlimited data for under CZK 500 per month, and if you're a young person (under 26) but not a student, you can still get a cheaper offer, paying CZK 577 for unlimited data every month.
