In a city where a urban footwear has given rise to a subculture—including a fan blog—street-wear stores specializing in the artful sneaker are springing up around Prague with the frequency of a Jordan jump shot. Think Sneakerbarber on Veverkova or Footshop on Bubenská.
Anyone who frequents those stores will thrill to the news that on October 24, Vinohradský Pavilion, all 2,500 m2 of it, will host Teniskology, Prague’s first ever festival devoted to athletic footwear (“tenisky” in Czech), the biggest yet in Central Europe.
Aside from the sale of Adidas, Nike, Reebok, Puma, New Balance, Vans, and Converse trainers, in total 30 brands, attendees can visit exhibitions, workshops, a parkour showcase, and step up to the bar. Also slated: live music, djs, and local beat box and rap acts.
If dressing up your feet isn’t enough of a kick, 33 Street Tattoo Shop will be on hand doing a pop-up shop.
