Formula 1 car to roar through Prague for Red Bull event this week

Aug. 16-17 will see the Red Bull Showrun 2024 take place at Rohanské nábřeží in Prague 8, featuring exhibition drives of an F1 single-seater and other racing vehicles and motorcycles. The event is expected to draw in 20,000 spectators, causing some disruption to traffic and public transport this weekend.

According to the organizer, the event will have a temporary fenced area with a track for exhibition rides, mobile stands for spectators, and a designated hairdryer zone with refreshments and toilets. Spectators can also watch the track on large-screen LED screens.

"The Red Bull Showrun 2024 is a unique opportunity for fans to see F1 single-seaters and other motoring exhibitions up close," said the event organizer.

To accommodate the event, a portion of Rohanská nábřeží road from the intersection with Šaldova and Breitfeldova streets to Voctářova street will be closed to normal traffic from Friday 3:00 p.m. to Sunday 6:00 p.m.

Tickets for the event went on sale on June 11, with prices ranging from CZK 390 to CZK 1,790 for grandstand seats.

In preparation for the event, the iconic Mazačka tram (in orange) has been repainted from orange to blue and has swapped its tank for the RB18 race car from the Red Bull Racing Team. The Mazačka will tour Prague on a designated route to maximize visibility for fans in different areas of the city.

"We are excited to bring the RB18 race car to the streets of Prague and give fans a unique experience," said a representative from Red Bull Racing Team.

For drivers and residents in the area, the detour route towards the center from Balabenka and Karlín will be through Sokolovská and Šaldova streets, while those coming from Libno can take Libeňský most, Dělnická, Argentinská, Hlávkův most, and Wilsonova Street. From Holešovice, the detour towards Žižkov will be available through Voctářova, Zenklova, Prosecká, Čuprova, Spojovije, Novovysočanská, and Pod Krejcárkem.

In addition to the event, Red Bull has also filmed a stunning video of its racing team in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, showcasing their RB18 race car in iconic locations such as the Charles Bridge and popular castles. The car was piloted by former F1 driver David Coulthard.
