Designblok Prague Design and Fashion Week begins today. But one of its exhibits, a proposal for a sleek, interactive Prague public transport shelter, has already been getting a lot of notice.

Unveiled last week on Na Příkopě Street (at Havířská) as part of the Pro lepší město (For a Better City) competition, the winning model public transport shelter includes a charging station for mobile phones, wi-fi, and LCD monitors displaying maps, timetables, and cycling routes.

The smart stop was designed by students Eduard Herrmann and Matěj Coufal and built by outdoor marketing company BigBoard. The aim is to improve Prague’s public spaces with unified, contemporary street furniture.

A bike-rental app pilot project is also a part of the display which will be open to the public through Oct 27. Designblok runs from Oct 22-27 at the Prague Exhibit Grounds.
