Taking its name from the 1976 film The Gumball Rally, about a fictional race from coast to coast in the US, the Gumball 3000 is an annual race across Europe that involves fashionable cars and celebrity drivers.

The 2016 iteration of the event will take place from April 30 to May 5, beginning in Dublin and ending in Bucharest, with daily stops in Edinburgh, London, Europa Park, Prague, and Budapest along the way.

On Thursday, May 4, Prague will be the fourth stop of the 2016 Gumball Rally, with racers expected to hit the city in the early evening from around 19:00.

But a Facebook event invites Praguers to come to “a central square” – presumably Old Town or Wenceslas – from 12:00 for “a full day of live music and a motoring display.”

Further details are promised as the event nears.

Anticipated celebrities driving at this’s years Rally are skateboarder Tony Hawk, rapper Eve, and David Hasselhoff, who received a speeding ticket while driving the iconic KITT from Knight Rider during the event in 2014.
