With the arrival of winter time in Czechia last weekend, the days got shorter, the nights grew longer, and afternoons were plunged into certain darkness all too soon. One way to make the seasonal transition a little easier is to embrace the light (even if it's artificial).

This weekend in Prague sees the opening of a new light park, an interactive exhibit inspired by Dubai's mesmerizing Glow Garden that invites visitors into radiant realms. It will be open until April 1.

Winter Wonderland is the third such exhibit to debut in Prague over the past year. Located in front of OC Letňany, the park joins The Light Tells the Story at Žluty Lázně and the Lumina Park at Džbán reservoir with its vast exhibition of light installations and attractions.

The largest of its kind in Europe, the park was created by the JVS GROUP, the company behind projects like Cosmos Discovery and Titanic. The colossal light installations have a fairy tale theme. Amid the park's remarkable light installations and interactive experiences, visitors will encounter characters such as Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, Pinocchio, and the Lion King.

Light parks now open in prague

  • Lights Tell the Story exhibition returns to Žluty Lázně again this year, offering half a million LED light diodes, three-dimensional light sculptures, extensive light chains, tunnels, and interactive games. The exhibition opened on Oct. 20 and will run through January.
  • Lumina Park at the Džbán reservoir has also reopened after a year, utilizing forested areas to create a 1.5-kilometer trail of illuminated art installations again for the 2023/2024 season. Now through January.

In addition to an underwater maze, a giant light piano, and dancing penguins, Winter Wonderland features a litany of other glow-getting attractions: a lake, a towering unicorn, a savannah, a massive crocodile, and a talking tree. Illuminated by millions of lights, the park also beckons with merry-go-rounds, a gleaming train, light swings, a labyrinth, and a garden inhabited by fairies.

The park will operate daily from 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Due to the park's limited capacity and restricted operating hours, it's recommended to purchase tickets well in advance.
