Meatballs may not have a long history in the Czech Republic, but one Prague diner is now exclusively serving up the ground meat specialty to visitors in the Vinohrady district.
Brixton Balls, presumably named after the London suburb, officially opened its doors at Korunní 23 on June 21.
At Brixton Balls’ opening party last week, the meatballs proved so popular that the venue sold out within hours, according to a Facebook post.
The eatery’s beef and pork are sourced from top local meat supplier Fiala, says the official website, and all balls are hand-rolled on site.
Brixton’s balls are served either three-apiece over a bed of rice (129 – 139 CZK) or as a slider: a single ball served inside a bun (59 – 69 CZK). Extra balls come at 39 CZK a pop.
Meatball options include three beef varieties (beef, beef & cheddar, and spicy beef) and pork & chorizo.
Vegetarians are also catered for: Brixton’s veggie balls are made from lentils, mushrooms, carrots, and thyme, served with a parsley yogurt sauce.
