The fourth annual Prague Pride begins on August 11 and Oldřich Bureš, who is its March Coordinator, promises that it is going to be big. What does this super-busy man, who works as the production manager on the projects LIDOSKOP, Losers, and DaeMen, do when he has the night off? Here, his picks for a perfect night out in Prague.

18:00 Around that time, I usually ride my bike or swim. Prague is an amazing city, where everything is so close. I think the bike is the fastest transportation especially in a city centre. It is also a good way to fight the “bad mood”, which our nation suffers from. When something goes wrong with your bike you can always stop by Bajkazyl on the waterfront to have a drink and the guys there will fix it.

19:00 Then I go to Qcafe. It’s a nice gay café divided in two floors, smoking and non-smoking. It is also used as a small but very pleasant cultural gay center, where various lectures, screenings and exhibitions are held. I use this coffeehouse during the day as my city center office and in the evening it’s my favorite place to hang out with friends. Because of the pleasant lounge music and friendly staff, a person can feel at home here even if he or she is visiting for the first time.

20:00 At this time I usually have dinner. I often go to Radost FX. It is the oldest vegetarian restaurant in Prague and I think it is the best one. I would explain the menu as a little journey around the world and everyone will certainly choose something to be satisfied with. Although the menu is rich and I always enjoy looking through it, in the end I always stick with the same Popey Side House burger with salad.

22:00 After dinner, it´s time to enjoy some nightlife. Queer Noises is a party with a live Queer alternative music, mostly from abroad, followed by DJ party, which takes place at various locations, but especially at Final Club in Prague 3 and at Chapeau Rouge. Very interesting groups of people come to this party. And it also demonstrates that Queer Punk is Not Dead! Queer Noises also have their own part in this year’s Prague Pride. The program will include great performances from the Israeli band Bonafide 3000 to techno, so Prague Pride is something to look forward to.

0:00 Another event, which is worth a visit, is organized by the Pioneer Prague band. Like Queer Noises, they meet at different locations. Pioneer Prague: Spritz is a place where people can dance to good music and not be afraid that in the middle of the night, the terrible songs of Helena Vondrackov or Barbra Streisand will bring them to their knees. So the only thing that can happen is that you easily forget the time and you will leave the party in daylight. So it is useful to bring your sunglasses.

2:00 If I don’t get stuck at Queer Noises or Pioneer, I go back to Qcafe for the last drink and after the majority of us stop at Wenceslas Square to eat fried cheese in a bun, which belongs to Prague, just like the Castle. My American friend declared that the fried cheese in a bun is like food porn, and I truthfully agree with him, especially at 2:00 AM.
