Due to planned repairs, tram service between the I.P. Pavlova and Karlovo náměstí stops will be disrupted from Friday, Aug. 11 to Sunday, Aug. 20 in both directions, and replacement buses and a temporary tram line will be introduced.

The repairs will affect tram lines 6, 10, 16, 22, 23, 24, 91, 96, 97, and 99, which will run along the changed routes. On both weekends, vehicle traffic will also be restricted. Part of Sokolská Street will be closed this weekend, and part of Legerova Street will be closed next weekend.

The affected tram line was last renovated in 1984 and panels were replaced in 2004. "This is one of the most important links between the eastern and western parts of the Prague tram network, therefore one of the most frequented lines, which corresponds to its wear and tear," Prague Public Transit Company's Miroslav Penc said in a press release.

He added that there was degradation to the underlying asphalt and corrosion to the gutters that need to be addressed. Repairs will extend the service life of the tracks by several years.

The work has been planned to take the shortest possible time. More extensive repairs will take place only after tram service is eventually restored to the upper part of Wenceslas Square, planned as part of the long-term renovation of the square. "Until then, we will try to keep the existing track in Ječná in operable condition with the most necessary repairs," Penc said.

Trams 6, 10, and 16 will split their routes into two sections to avoid the closed tracks. Trams 22 and 23 will be diverted onto modified routes, and line 24 will be shortened. Night trams 91, 96, 97, and 99 will be diverted via the Moráň and Albertov stops.

Replacement bus service X10 will run between I.P. Pavlova and Karlovo náměstí in the day and X91 will run at night. Tram 32 will be introduced between Zvonařka and Zahradní Město. Two temporary tram stops will be established near I.P. Pavlova on Jugoslávská Street and Bělehradská Street. A complete list of all the changes can be found on the Prague Public Transit Company website and up-to-date information will also be in the Lítačka app.
