LOT Polish Airlines introduces flights from Prague to Ostrava starting next week

Czech residents will soon have a new way to travel between Ostrava and Prague.

The Polish carrier LOT Polish Airlines will temporarily introduce a new flight between Ostrava and Prague starting on Nov. 11. One-way tickets will start at 770 crowns.

"In this pandemic time, the route will be operated as a temporary one, with the provision that if it is successfully used by passengers, it can be maintained for a long time," Ostrava airport spokesman Kateřina Pustějovská told Patriot Magazin.

The airline will assess how the pandemic continues, as well as the overall interest in the flight route, when determining whether to continue the Ostrava to Prague flight in the long term.

For 83 years, there were flights between Ostrava and Prague; airlines stopped flying the route in January 2020.

This connection to Prague is just the latest connection that LOT Polish Airlines is offering from Ostrava. At the end of October, LOT Polish Airlines started operating a new flight from Ostrava to Warsaw. The airline has altered the upcoming flight schedule between Ostrava and Warsaw to accommodate their new flight to Prague, so Prague commuters can take a quick connection to Warsaw.

The flight from Prague to Ostrava will take about an hour.

Flights from Ostrava to Prague will depart on Mondays around 16:15, Wednesdays and Fridays around 9:30, and Thursdays and Saturdays around 17:20.

Planes from Prague to Ostrava will depart on Mondays around 17:45, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays around 11:00 and Thursdays around 18:50.

Flights from Ostrava to Warsaw will depart on Mondays around 19:10, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 12:25 and Thursdays at 20:15. 

And planes will depart from Warsaw to Ostrava on Monday at 14:45, on Wednesdays and Fridays at 08:00 and on Thursdays and Saturdays at 15:50.

At the moment, the Ostrava to Warsaw route is the only regular passenger air connection from Ostrava's Mošnov Airport. However, the airport has regular freight flights.
