This Sunday, November 27, Prague Zoo will ring in the Christmas season with a special program that includes a Christmas tree lighting ceremony, mulled wine, Christmas carols… and an exhibition of antique bullhooks, a tool used for handling elephants.

Entry to the Zoo for the ceremonies from 15:00 on Sunday will be only a symbolic 1 CZK.

And throughout December, Prague Zoo has a little something special in store, too.

Every Friday and Saturday night throughout next month (save for the Christmas holidays), the Zoo will be offering special guided tours of animal pavilions after dark.

While many zoo visitors will be familiar with seeing the animals during the day, it’s a rare opportunity to see them at night, when many species will behave differently.

The evening tours will start at 17:00 or 17:30, and it’s necessary to book in advance via email (pr@zoopraha) or phone (+420 296 112 230).

Each tour lasts 90 minutes, and costs 250 CZK for adults and 160 CZK for children. Unlike normal daily operation, dogs will not be permitted for the night tour.
