Prague’s Metronome Festival postponed again, but many scheduled acts still coming

Prague’s Metronome Festival will be postponed to next year. Originally it had been postponed to the fall, but the uncertain situation about when large crowds will be permitted has made planning the event impossible. Organizers hope to stage a smaller event in the fall, but details are not clear.

The Metronome Prague team said that due to government regulations the festival will be now take place June 17–19, 2021. All tickets purchased remain valid for the new date. One-day tickets will be valid for the date of the performance of the headliner that was purchased.

The organizers said they asked to meet with representatives of the Czech Ministry of Health, but continued to receive the answer than only 500 people can gather in one place even though they were prepared to accept all possible preventive measures. Flights from the US are also uncertain, which would prevent the participation of some performers.

“From the entire Metronome team — please support us and keep your tickets for next year! We’re sorry that culture is at the bottom of the list of priorities for our leaders, so we have to help each other. We’re certainly not giving up and we’re preparing a gift in September for those who stand with us,” festival organizer David Gaydečka said.

“Imagine a sort of halfMetronome,” co-organizer Martin Voňka added.

In case of refunds, people should contact the organizers, who will address requests on a case by case basis. “We are very grateful for your patience and understanding! That is why we ask that you support Metronome Prague and keep your tickets for next year. By doing so, you will support our festival, our work, and the hundreds of people involved in our preparations,” the organizers said.

Metronome Prague is the largest international music and arts event held in the Czech capital. This summer would have been the fifth edition of the festival. The first four years of the festival saw stars such as Iggy Pop, Kraftwerk, David Byrne, Liam Gallagher, Sting, Foals, Primal Scream, Morcheeba, Chemical Brothers, Kasabian, Tom O
