From the 3-6 of July, Hradec Králové’s Festival Park will be transformed into an epicenter of rock, dance, and dubstep. Expats.cz will be representing at this year’s RFP festival with a special information/meeting point and an all-important bar where English-speaking staff will be on hand throughout the day to answer any queries you might have.

Rock for People 2012 is shaping up to be one of the best yet, with a well thought out line-up showcasing the very best of rock & dance music. This year boasts over 200 bands, DJs, & theatrical groups performing over eight stages. Rock for People regulars The Prodigy will be playing this year with their unmistakable back catalogue of dance-fueled, energetic tracks. Other impressive headliners come in the form of US legends Faith no More, Mou5etrap head honcho Skrillex, UK indie kids Franz Ferdinand, the ever-controversial Pete Doherty, and The Kooks.

But RFP isn’t just about established musicians taking the centre stage limelight. The organizers have managed to balance the line-up perfectly with a number of lesser-known bands performing on the various stages located around the spacious Festival Park site. Experimental electronic band Crystal Castles are a prime example of the up & coming quality that Rock for People 2012 will have. The Toronto-based band has been going from strength to strength with a fan base gradually increasing from their Canadian roots. Crystal Castles are famous for their energetic live show, which sees them performing a combination of their own original songs as well as a number of their remix projects.

British four-piece The Computers will also be playing this year’s festival. The Exeter natives play hard-hitting, sing-a-long garage rock that is guaranteed to get RFP attendees dancing. The band has recently released their full length studio album, This is the Computers. The album is a fast-paced musical riot with a Friday night feel! I highly recommend purchasing if you’ve not already.

Tickets for this year’s fun-filled event are currently available via the Rock for People website. 4-day tickets are priced at €68 (approximately 1720 CZK) through May & June, with prices rising closer to the event date. Rock for People has also catered for party people based outside of the Czech Republic. Secure and simple ticket purchases can be made using the Eventim website; check the Rock for People’s specially-designed English-language ticket site and follow the straightforward instructions.

Londoner Example is another name I’m pleased to see on this year’s line-up. The wild man of Hammersmith will be bringing his unique blend of banter and bass to the Rock for People stage. The Data Records artist recently released his third studio album, Playing in the Shadows, which immediately hit the number one spot in the UK charts. The artist is currently writing and recording his fourth album, which will pull creative contributions from Benga, Dillion Francis, Switch & Diplo, to name a few. You can expect plenty of jokes and audience participation from London’s finest!

The Czech Republic’s Monkey Business will be flying the flag for CZ. The well-known band have been fusing funk, soul, and dance music since their formation in 1999, the upbeat group, headed by Roman Holý, are famous for their theatrical stage shows, often incorporating trapeze acts, fire breathing, and knife juggling into their performances. Juggling aside, the extremely tight band play excellent music that will serve as the perfect soundtrack to your festival experience.

We will keep you posted on any additions to the ever-growing list of performers and bands at this year’s RFP. You have plenty of time before the 3 day rock-fest to acquaint yourself with any of the unfamiliar bands, ensuring picture-perfect dance steps in good time for this exciting event!
