Rockstar scientist brings immersive 'Horizons' show to Prague in April

During his acclaimed show, Brian Cox explains the origins of far-away galaxies, alien worlds, and supermassive black holes via a tech spectacular.

Renowned British physicist and media personality Brian Cox is bringing his highly acclaimed live arena tour, Horizons, to the Czech Republic. He will speak at the Prague Congress Center on April 14. 

Horizons explores the nature of space, time, and the origins of life. Utilizing high-technology screens and displays, the show portrays galaxies, different solar systems, and the latest theories on the origin of the universe. More than a quarter of a million people spanning three continents have already visited Cox’s presentation. This is the scientist’s first time delivering a presentation in Czechia.

The tour, named Horizons – A 21st Century Space Odyssey, also showcases human civilization in general, encompassing music, art, philosophy, and science. 

Tickets start from CZK 1,700 and go up to CZK 2,300 for seats closer to the main stage. GoOut.net and Ticketmaster are the official vendors.

An award-winning presenter and scientist

Cox, often referred to as a rockstar scientist, is renowned for his engaging and accessible approach to science communication. Over the years, he has hosted several acclaimed science programs for the BBC, including The Universe, The Planets, Forces of Nature, Human Universe, Wonders of Life, Wonders of the Universe, and Wonders of the Solar System. He has also co-hosted popular astronomy and cosmology series such as Stargazing Live and the award-winning BBC Radio 4 series Infinite Monkey Cage.

As an author, Cox has sold over 1 million books worldwide, including titles like Black Holes, Universal: A Guide to the Cosmos, Quantum Universe, and Why Does E=mc2?. These books have accompanied his highly popular television and radio programs, further spreading the reach of his scientific expertise.

Cox has been involved in several significant experiments in the field of particle physics. He worked on the ATLAS experiment at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, which played a crucial role in the discovery of the Higgs boson particle in 2012. 

His contributions to the popularization of astronomy and physics have been widely recognized. In the UK, he has received numerous accolades for his TV work, including two Royal Television Society awards and a Peabody Award for Wonders of the Solar System. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire, a high state honor, in 2010.

The arrival of Horizons in the Czech Republic presents an exciting opportunity for Prague-based science enthusiasts and curious minds alike.
