Spotlight – Strings of Autumn Club Night

The Spotlight: Strings of Autumn mini-festival is a celebration of cutting edge music, a well thought-out event bringing together some of the most exciting names in progressive music, resulting in a melting pot of styles and genres spread over 3 stages. The third of November will see Chris “Daddy” Dave & The Drumheadz (USA), hip hop vocalist Akua Naru, German beatboxer Sato-San To, and pedal masters Rico Loop & (D) & En.dru (CZ) all performing under the Spotlight umbrella. This exciting event will be held in Prague’s famous Roxy and the adjoining NoD.

The spacious and well equipped venues will provide the perfect stage for the impressive mini festival line-up. World-class performers like Chris “Daddy” Dave, a respected an accomplished drummer, whose drumming has appeared on countless hip hop hits from acts such as De La Soul, Yasiin Bey, A Tribe Called Quest, and Erykah Badu. The modern drummer has also found success with the r&b world, providing beats for the likes of Beyoncé, Adele, and Maxwell. Dave will be joined by The Drumheadz for the forthcoming event to perform tracks from their electrifying new project, a musical journey which switches in tempo and style.

Current toast of the hip hop realm Akua Naru will also be attendance, performing songs from her flawless debut: “The Journey Aflame” The chart-topping conscious MC has a wealth of experience when it comes to performance. The poetic lyricist has worked with Fela Kuti’s legendary drummer Tony Allen and toured with the kings of 90s rap Lords of the Underground. Akua is definitely a name to watch, a rising star whose live shows have been called mesmerising and captivating.

Freestyle beatbox virtuosos Rico Loop & (D) & En.dru (CZ) will be combining vocal forces for a enthralling display of vocal talent and dexterity.  Berlin-based Rico has been taking his multi-layered sounds across the world, combining his vocals with live bass guitar and keyboards riffs while incorporating his trusty foot pedal. Looping and chopping up live samples to build improvised, multi-instrumental tracks. A show that needs to be seen to be believed! Rico’s wild and unpredictable characteristics often overflow into the tracks resulting in a truly unique exploration in sound, rhythm, and melody!

Czech-based outfit Sato-San To will be keeping the Spotlight genre diversity alive by providing live ambient jungle with Tomas Herian (drums and loops), Oskar Török (trumpet & keyboards), and legendary Czech bassist Jaromír Honzák, effortlessly fusing influences from around the world. This year’s mini-fest is shaping up to be as exciting as previous years. Spotlight is definitely one of Prague’s most innovative musical undertakings!
