The Czech Republic is among the world’s leaders in sending humanitarian aid to Ukraine, while taking in refugees fleeing the Russian invasion of the country which began on February 24.

An estimated 270,000 Ukrainian refugees are currently in the Czech Republic, and Czechs have broken fundraising records by donating over CZK 1.5 billion in humanitarian aid to NGOs helping those affected by the conflict.

Czech NGO People In Need (Člověk v tísni) has already raised over CZK 1.2 billion through its SOS Ukraine fund, which supplies food, water, hygiene items, and heating to those most in need in Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and states bordering Ukraine.

Expats.cz readers can now conveniently contribute to People In Need’s humanitarian efforts. Just scan the bar code below to send a donation to People In Need’s SOS Ukraine account. (The QR code is preset to CZK 500 but you can change your contribution to any amount.)

You can also send a donation for a specified amount to the SOS Ukraine account number: 93209320/0300, with the message for recipient “Expats for Ukraine.”

People In Need delivers humanitarian aid to Lviv in Western Ukraine via truck deliveries. It also intends to implement intensive psychological support facilities for people in the city. Meanwhile, in warn-torn Eastern Ukraine, the organization distributes vital water, food packages and hygiene supplies which are severely limited as a result of the Russian invasion.

In the Czech Republic, People In Need provides support to refugees throughout the country and participates in the creation of a systematic solution for integrating Ukrainian refugees into Czech life.

People In Need’s aid program for Ukraine can be sure that their money is being put to the best possible use, with each stage of the aid-giving process precisely determined by experts in the field, guided by insights from operators “on the ground” in Ukraine and supporting refugees in the Czech Republic.
