Party like you’re in Latin America

La Tropical joined forces with Bodeguita de Medio for Gran Fiesta Latina 2023 taking place at Gauč ve Stromovce on Aug. 12. In addition to dance workshops and performances, the event will guest star Cuban singer Haila Mompié and the band Carisma, plus DJ Dariel Martinez. 

Go back in time to the Napoleonic Wars

To celebrate French Emperor Napoleon’s birthday on Aug. 15, Vyšehrad will become the scene of Napoleonic Days on Aug. 12, with parades, French and Austrian infantry and artillery training demonstrations, a falconry demonstration, and a St. Napoleon's Day parade, which are organized by the Austerlitz Project. 

Admire vintage aircraft

The sixth Hangar Open House 2023, which takes place on Aug. 12 at Točná Airport, is a chance to see vintage aircraft on display in the hangar, an exhibition of RAF pilots, and more. The event is organized by the owners of the aircraft on display, pilots, and members of the Točná Aviation Museum community.

Dance at a techno or a rock concert

Post-hardcore U.S. legend The Fall of Troy plays at the Underdogs' on Aug. 13 together with the U.S. noise duo '68. For fans of electronic music, German composer, producer and DJ Ben Böhmer will perform at Křižíkova Fontána at Výstaviště Praha Holešovice also on Aug. 13.

Go to an art fair

Support local artists exhibiting their works at ArtFér, which takes place on Aug. 13 at Pragovka Gallery. The event gives art lovers the opportunity to purchase original works, and also talk to their creators. The payment is in cash only.

Drink beer from Pivovar Matuška or wine from the Botanical Garden vineyard

Prague’s Pivovar Matuška turns 14 on Aug. 12, an occasion to taste their beers on tap at Dva kohouti and enjoy their food offerings. If you’re more of a wine person, the Botanical Garden’s Vinice sv. Kláry is celebrating its patron sv. Klára on Aug. 12 and 13, an occasion for a picnic with wine from the vineyard and picnic baskets available for purchase.

Take part in Prague Pride

This week’s Prague Pride culminates on Aug. 12 in Letná Park, which will transform into a rainbow-colored party area with six stages, the traditional JarmarQ village complete with an accordion player, a VIP Zone, and a Pride HideOUT when the hustle and bustle around gets to be too much.

Celebrate World Elephant Day at Prague Zoo

Prague Zoo has prepared a special program for Aug. 12, which is World Elephant Day. Its Elephant Valley exhibition complex will host a series of events that will have the majestic animals in the spotlight, while the Embassy of Sri Lanka will offer a complementary program with a photo corner and gifts for visitors. 

Listen to barrel organ music

The 10th edition of the festival Barrel organ music is alive! (Flašinet žije! 2023) brings to Prague barrel organ players from Czechia, as well as France, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia. Catch their performances on Aug. 12 in locations across the city and explore the intricacies of their instruments.
