Retro museum opens and Prague 7 hosts a gallery hop

Explore Prague's Art District 7 at the festival Máme otevřeno 2022. Galleries, art workshops, design shops, creative centers, and other organizations are coming together with a program of special events. Prague 7, May 20–22. Read more here.

Filip Kůrka's paintings are considered controversial, but you can make up your own mind at the exhibition of Gamekeeping Realism vol. 1, which will be at The Chemistry Gallery until June 12. There is a guided tour of the show on May 22 at 5 pm. Read more here and here.

A new museum has just opened on the fourth floor of the Kotva department store. Retro Muzeum Praha shows what various rooms in a typical flat looked like in the 1970s and '80s. You can also explore shops, schools, and other aspects of daily life. Read more here.

Festival of Animal Beer, Pink May, Rumfest, and Burger fest

Prague Zoo presents Festival zvířecích piva, a festival of animal beer. Different brews named after animals will be available, There will be concerts, tours, and discussions (in Czech) about beer. Laura a její tygři (Laura and Her Tigers) is the headline act. The annual international rum festival Rumfest lets you taste unique rums; participate in guided tastings, seminars, and workshops; dance to Latin American music; and try Caribbean specialties. Martinický palác (Hradčanské nám. 67), May 21. Read more here.

Coollife Fest and Highland Games

The largest freestyle show in the Czech Republic, Coollife Fest will feature masters of freeskiing and snowboarding, swoop freestyle, high-diving, and more. The festival will be accompanied throughout the day by workshops, films, and lectures, ending with a concert by Paulie Garand and an afterparty. Smíchovská náplavka, May 21. Dyzajn Market, May swap for refugees

The latest edition of Dyzajn market takes place at Výstaviště on May 21 and 22. People can find jewelry, accessories, handbags and backpacks, art objects, porcelain, decoration, fashion toys, and stationery – all from local designers from the Czech Republic. Read more here.

Swap clothing and houseplants for new ones at a Swap oděvů a květin. People can bring clean clothes or plants they no longer need and chose new ones. Leftover clothing will be donated to help Ukrainian refugees. Prague Market, Hall 40, May 21. Read more here.

Make it a family affair

Medieval fair, Railyway Kingdom, and Dog's Day

The new exhibition Know Smart Prague (Poznej chytrou Prahu) has just launched at the Kingdom of Railways, where children can learn, for example, how a smart bin "knows" when it is full, what smart signs tell them, or what gray water is and what it can be used for. Read more here.
