‘Thumb´ tells the unlikely tale of the Tumbler family´s descent through the festive season, from planning their annual Christmas party to running their family snow removal business.

The strong performances from each cast member are commendable, especially impressive considering the newness of ‘In The Name Of…Theatre Creations,´ a company composed entirely of recent college graduates. Its loveable characters are the backbone of the play, sustaining some of the less well-composed elements. Namely, the show begins as a comedy and progresses towards a murder mystery of sorts. It is rushed, with just one hour to make the transition between comedic value and plain old intrigue. This balance is unsettled, with neither having enough room to realize its potential. There are plenty of nice moments between the family members, allowing us to easily enjoy the simplicity of their care for one another.

Unfortunately, there is a definite lack of transition between these tender moments and the unfolding of eldest son Benny´s dark, gruesome secret. This underdeveloped juxtaposition makes the play hard to believe and leaves the actors with little to work with.
