Live Music

Prolific producer, singer-songwriter, and part of the sugar-pop duo She & Him with actress Zooey Deschanel, Portland guitar legend M. Ward makes his Prague debut.

The Aussie folk, rock, and blues singer channels Nick Drake, Bob Dylan, and Billy Bragg (who he once opened for) in his harmonica-heavy set.

Mesmerizing Iceland singer comes to Prague in support of her haunting and melodic new album Ask the Deep.

The City of Prague Philharmonic performs a tribute to Hungarian composer Miklós Rózsa who scored monumental films like Ben Hur.

American siblings rockers (all five band members have names that begin with the letter R) showcase guitar chops and catchy pop numbers in their gimmick-free act. 

Club Nights 

Berlin club-scene doyen and house and techno guru Efdemin headlines the Kinetic club night.

This London-based underground house collective is back in Prague with a diverse range of acts incl. some garage and acid to keep things interesting. 

It’s fitting that Daniel Pearce (a.ka. Eats Everything), named the Best British DJ by DJ Magazine, should open the new club season at Roxy.

Festivals 

Beloved Prague son Antonín Dvořak is feted with the most prestigious of the annual classical music festivals; this year Yo-Yo Ma performs.

A free open-air celebration of adrenalin sports and workshops combined with lively entertainment has made this the largest festival of its kind in Central Europe.

Big name Czech rappers (Vladimir 518, James Cole, Hugo Toxx) drop beats with support from top DJs Nobodylisten and more.

Prague neighborhoods host block parties that include food fests, performances, and more to celebrate cultural and social life in public spaces.

Theater

A second outing of the English translation of the original Czech play about iconic Czech funny man Jara Cimrman is staged with expat actors.

An Old Monk – Sept 25/Divadlo Archa

Czech premiere of the inventive collaborative venture by Belgian performers Kris Defoort and Josse De Pauw based on the music of jazz legend Thelonious Monk.

Film

This collaboration between the embassies of Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam brings films from this countries to Prague for a fourth year.

This powerful silent film classic from 1928 is made even more so by the captivating accompaniment of the BERG orchestra.

Art & Design

Visionary surrealist artist  Marie Čermínová, one of the most significant artistic figures of the 20th century, gets a Prague retrospective.

A touring exhibit of works by the Italian Renaissance painter Titian (The Poet of the Image and the Shade of Beauty) opens this month.
