From Nov. 25, tram services on Prague's Libeň Bridge will be indefinitely suspended. This measure, implemented by Prague Public transport Company (DPP), aims to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow due to concerns about the structural condition of the bridge.

Low temperatures have increased the risk of sudden closures for tram traffic, prompting the decision to replace the tram service with buses until further notice. Tram services on the bridge were temporarily suspended earlier this year, but this closure will remain in effect until repairs on the bridge are complete.

The tram service disruption will affect the section between Dělnická and Palmovka, with replacement buses taking over this route. The existing X25 bus service will be extended and will run between Tusarova and Palmovka, making stops at Dělnická and Libeňský most.

Permanent tram line changes

As a result of the suspension, there will be permanent changes to the tram lines in the area. Tram lines 1, 6, 14, and 25, will be rerouted along the following routes until repair work on the bridge is completed:

  • Line 1: Sídliště Petřiny – Strossmayerovo náměstí – Vltavská – Dělnická – Nádraží Holešovice – Výstaviště
  • Line 6: Kubánské náměstí – Strossmayerovo náměstí – Výstaviště – Nádraží Holešovice (continues as line 14 towards Spořilov)
  • Line 14: Spořilov – Vltavská – Dělnická – Nádraží Holešovice (continues as line 6 towards Kubánské náměstí)
  • Line 25: Bílá Hora – Strossmayerovo náměstí – Vltavská – Dělnická – Nádraží Holešovice – Výstaviště

Line 27, which was previously a temporary solution due to disruptions on line 17, will be canceled, with services returning to line 17. Additionally, temporary lines 12 and 94 will be permanently redirected from Nov. 25.

Replacement bus service X25

In response to the suspension of tram services, the X25 replacement bus service will run daily between Tusarova and Palmovka. This route will connect key locations including Dělnická and Libeňský most. DPP and Prague's Technical Road Administration are also exploring alternative routes in the Libeň area to minimize delays during peak traffic times.

The night bus service X94 will continue to operate, running between Nádraží Holešovice, Libeňský most, and Palmovka.

Why the changes are necessary

These changes aim to prevent a sudden closure on the bridge, similar to earlier this year, when a portion of the bridge had to be closed due to the combined effects of low temperatures and the bridge’s condition. Once repairs are completed on the Libeň Bridge, tram services will return to normal.

DPP encourages passengers to plan their trips accordingly and use the replacement buses during this period. Consult the DPP website for full details on the public transport changes around Libeň Bridge.
