WATCH: Revelers pack Prague's 22 tram for a wild ride on 2/22/22

A Facebook event inviting Praguers to ride tram 22 on the numerological date and time of 2/22/2022 at 22:22 hours racked up over 20,000 likes with 3,500 people planning to attend. While Prague’s Public Transit Company encouraged interested parties to photograph the tram from outside Tuesday night, their plea went largely ignored.

Czech media reports that the Czech capital's thirteen 22 trams were full to bursting at 22:22 on Tuesday night. One CNN Prima reporter said: "You won't squeeze more twos into this date, at least not in this century."

CNN reports that both students and older passengers rode tram number 22 at the magic hour. Most of them enthusiastically photographed the unique date that shone on the information board in the tram.

The news site even spoke to one student who was celebrating his 22nd birthday on board.

Journalist Eugen Kukla captured the joyful atmosphere live from inside a moving 22 tram departing from the Bílá hora stop Tuesday night.

The camera spotted a number of revelers (both masked and unmasked) on the tram with the number "22" Sharpied onto their forehead. Others took part in a Chumbawamba singalong and many enjoyed beverages.

The ride culminated in a countdown followed by passengers spilling out onto the streets at the Národní třída stop. The Facebook live video also captured a surprisingly cheerful tram driver who appeared more than happy to be in on the fun.

Crowds also filled the stops by the National Theatre, where two trams were due to arrive coming from opposite directions at 22:22, but arrived late due to crowds on board, one by about five minutes and the other by over 10 minutes.

An empty 22 tram, which seems to have had technical problems due to overcrowding passed by, followed by several packed 22 trams passed in rapid succession.

Nonetheless, the crowds cheered as the trams arrived. Getting on or off was difficult, though some people tried. By 23:00, trams ceased being crowded and were back to normal operation.
