The whirlwind of the holidays has ended – time to hunker down and stay warm. Agnes Obel, January 9 The Danish pianist and singer/songwriter debuts her haunting melodies notable for their harp and cello accompaniments and the singer’s whispery vocals to Palac Akropolis.
The Vibrators, January 18 Brit punk-rock outfit and one-time Iggy Pop and Mott the Hoople support act The Vibrators play Lucerna; listen for their single “Automatic Lover” said to be one of the best punk songs of all time.
Michael Bublé, January 24 The Grammy-award-winning Canadian crooner brings his piano stylings and mellow tunes, a wide range of standards and originals, to O2 arena.

Prague Short Film Festival, January 16-19 You have time – trust us! Short fiction films of no more than 30 minutes are competing for a 2,000 EUR prize while noncompetitive, non-fiction films are also screened.
Festival Spectaculare, January 20-30 Contemporary music and dance merge at some unique venues for this avant garde multimedia festival. You can catch both Czech and international music groups performing at venues such as Veletržní Palace, a mini-film festival at Bio Oko and more.
EIGA-SAI, Festival of Japanese Film, January 22-28 An intense few days screening the best in Japanese film, organizers attempt to give a broad update to the hottest cinema coming out of the nation. Czech Press Photo, through January 31 The best from Czech and Slovak photographers is on display at Old Town Hall. Relive last year’s best news stories as well as feature photos and slice of life.
Volker März – Laughing Windows, through February 2 Multimedia artist Volker März has created this special exhibit for Dox showcasing not only his work from the past 15 years but also new pieces. This artist of all mediums (sculptor, photographer, musician and more) specializes in plastic figurines of historical personalities.
Josef Lada, through February 16 Relive a little Christmas magic this month and visit Kampa Museum for their Christmas-themed Josef Lada show. His whimsical paintings are always a joy to discover.
Contemporary music and dance merge at Festival Spectaculare
Twelfth Night Parade, January 5 Follow the 3 magi and their camels as they stroll through Hradčany. The parade starts at 15:30 at Hradčanské náměstí and ends with a live nativity scene at Loretánské náměstí.
Best Strippers in Prague, January 17 You can be judge if they are the best or not; but organizers claim it’s the biggest men’s stripping project in the Czech Republic. This special ladies-only evening promises strippers from around the world and the chance to party with them after the show.
Ice skating at Ovocný trh, through January 31 Skate under the shadow of the Estates Theater at this small but popular rink which has music and other fun, typically on the weekends. Skating is free, skate rental is 50 CZK.
Wedding Cake of the Year 2014, January 12 We doubt it’ll be rolled down a red carpet, and hopefully there will be no speeches, but the best wedding cake of the year will be revealed today, and we know the suspense has been killing you. Cake bakers should attend for the workshops and demonstrations and cake lovers for the tasting stalls.
Kolbenova Flea Market, Saturdays and Sundays A mish-mash of new, old and bizarre and probably some unwanted Christmas gifts this month, is up for grabs every weekend at this flea market, a short walk from the Kolbenova metro station.
