What's On in November

This month brings some hot events to make up for the chilly weather!

Get ready for chilly winds and icy pavements, November will definitely bring with it a change in weather conditions, a special festival for those wanting to give thanks for their blessings, and of course lots of exciting events in and around the city! Stay warm this month with plenty of hot events to enjoy!  

Music 

1 – The Pains of Being Pure at Heart: New York based band playing indie pop for the first time in Prague’s Meet Factory. 

2 – Keane: English alternative rock band playing a selection of their hits from the past and present.

3 – Spotlight (Strings of Autumn): Prague’s mini-festival showcasing cutting-edge artists from both the Czech and international scenes.

5 – Incognito: UK pioneers of acid jazz play Lucerna’s Music Bar. Smooth soul and jazz from Bluey and his band of accomplished musicians. 

6 – Suzanne Vega: American folk singer plays her one and only show in the Czech Republic.  

9 – WHY?: Californian indie rockers take over Meet factory!

11- God Speed You Black Emperor: An evening of Canadian post-rock. Expect film loop projections and interesting graphics to accompany the equally interesting band’s music.

12 – Maceo Parker: Legendary musician plays Lucerna. Maceo has performed and written music for the likes of James Brown and Parliament.

12 – Diana Krall: Grammy-nominated jazz pianist performs tracks from her ever-growing catalogue of songs.

14 – Radio Wave Stimul festival: An incredible night of electronic music thanks to the cool kids at Radio Wave! WARP’s Flying Lotus & bass player Thundercat join forces for what is set to be an incredible night of music! 

14 – Kate Nash: The UK’s pop princess performs tracks from her two studio albums. Be sure to get yourself a ticket to the most interesting and exciting show in town.

19 – Queen Ifrica & Tony Rebel: Two truly fantastic artists sharing the same stage. Great reggae jams from JA to PRG! 

21- The Cribs: Rugged and raw rock from the UK. A must-see show! 

22 – Muse: The pride of Teignmouth! Muse have enjoyed a long and illustrious career filled with hits. Take the opportunity to see them perfrom those hits live on the 22nd!

Food & Drink   

1-31 – Museum of Gastronomy: Take a historical look at people’s attitude to preparing and consuming food from the times of domestication of fire to the present day.

Until 4 – Festival of Taste: Enjoy the richness of autumn tastes and flavours. Three-course menus for a special festival price of 290 CZK or 390 CZK. Check website for more information.  

1-30: Náplavka Farmers’ Market: One of the best farmers’ markets in Prague, selling baked goods, vegetables, cheese, fish and fresh farmer’s milk.     

Cultural Festivals   

1-5 – Afro-Bailar Prague Festival 2012: Multicultural festival with workhops and parties of afro-latin music. Don’t forget your dancing shoes!  

3 – Lord of The Dance: The O2 Arena hosts Lord of the Dance Michael Flatley’s much loved show.  

9-10 – Wedding Expo 2012. Is your big day getting close? Or do you just want to do some window shopping? Either way, join the Perfect Wedding Fair for expats and Czech’s alike! 

9-14 – Mezipatra: Prague’s Queer Film Fest is the city’s only LGBT film festival. Check the website for more information on prices and timings.

22-28 – French Film Fest: The 15th edition of this highly popular film festival! Films shown in various locations. Check website for more info.
