On November 12th, Roxy/NoD is being taken over by Spotlight, the eclectic club night of the Strings of Autumn festival, which this year features cutting-edge hip-hop, electronica, and some of the best independent music from the UK, the USA, and the domestic scene. Among the headliners will be Young Fathers, whose position at the forefront of contemporary experimental hip-hop was confirmed when they were awarded with prestigious Mercury Prize. Other notable names on the bill include Xenia Rubinos, whose quirky, soulful songs and electro-punk attitude are gaining her a reputation as one of America’s most interesting young artists; producer and multi-instrumentalist Taylor McFerrin and his acclaimed soul/jazz-infused electronica; and Law, a charismatic Edinburgh-based singer and one of the most remarkable recent discoveries of the British alternative scene, whose primal, soulful vocals are set against a dark electronic soundscape.
