đŸ„š Watch out for soaring egg prices

Retail egg prices in the U.S. hit record highs despite easing bird flu outbreaks and lower wholesale rates, AP reported Sunday. Imports surged 551 percent in early 2025 to meet demand after over 30 million hens were culled. 🩋 See butterflies in bloom

The Prague Botanical Garden’s annual spring butterfly exhibition in the Fata Morgana Greenhouse has opened and will run from April 11 to May 25, 2025. Over 5,000 butterflies will be showcased. Highlights include tropical species, interactive exhibits, and weekend workshops for all ages.

🐰Visit an Easter exhibit at the bridge and more

A special Easter exhibition opened at the Charles Bridge Museum on April 13, marking Palm Sunday and the start of the Easter season. Running through April 30, the exhibition highlights Easter traditions and history linked to Charles IV. Admission includes access to the museum’s permanent collection, which explores the construction of the iconic Charles Bridge. Located in Prague 1 near the bridge.

Wine lovers, mark your calendars and stock up for the long weekend (and school closures) ahead. The first annual DERWE WEINFEST 2025 kicks off on April 16 at Prague’s historic New Town Hall. Schoolchildren start their Easter break on Thursday, April 17. With Good Friday on April 18 and Easter Monday on April 21 as public holidays, schools remain closed through the long weekend. Classes resume on Tuesday, April 22, giving students an extended holiday to enjoy the spring festivities.

🛒 Do your shopping before stores close

In 2025, Easter falls late, with Good Friday on April 18 and Easter Monday on April 21. Both days are public holidays in the Czech Republic. While stores generally remain open on Good Friday, Easter Monday brings mandatory closures for large retailers over 200 square meters.

Plan your shopping ahead to avoid disruptions. Pharmacies, gas stations, shops at airports, railway stations (including Prague’s HlavnĂ­ nĂĄdraĆŸĂ­), and hospitals are exempt from this regulation.
