#1 Czech PM meets US President Joe Biden

On Monday, April 15, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala will sit down with United States President Joe Biden to discuss security cooperation, notably significant as the Czech Republic marks 25 years since joining NATO. Strengthening the Czech-American partnership and enhancing support for Ukraine are key objectives.

Fiala intends to address mutual economic relations and the development of nuclear energy. Following the White House meeting, Fiala will meet with Czech expatriates residing and working in the USA.

#2 Take part in an LGBTQ+ discussion and movie screening

The French Institute in Prague, the Goethe-Institute, and Charles University are collaborating to present Queer 2024 – Breaking Barriers in Academia, an English-language panel discussion and movie screening focused on LGBTQ+ experiences in the academic sector on Thursday, April 18. The event aims to raise awareness of the challenges faced by students and staff, promote existing best practices, and encourage collective action. The discussion and screening of short films will take place at Kampus Hybernská.

#3 Welcome spring at the opening of Baden Baden Štvanice

As warmer weather descends upon Prague, the city's beer gardens and other open-air venues are reopening over the comings weeks for the summer 2024 season. The official start of the summer at Prague's Štvanice Island kicks off with the opening of Baden Baden on Friday, April 19. Expect live DJs and food from the grill courtesy of Luke from Prague Jerk Station, and bring your own picnic blanket or unwind on the venue's beach chairs.

#4 Go for a competitive beer-fueled run at Ladronka Park

Skip the pub crawl and take part in Prague's biggest beer run, RUN4Beer, from 3:30 p.m. on April 20 at Ladronka Park. Enjoy a 4.6 -kilometer route with four pit stops offering small beers, capped off with a large beer at the finish line. Expect a lively atmosphere with music and warm-up sessions. Participants aged 18 and above can join for fun, while top finishers will receive medals and prizes. Interested runners can register in advance online.

#5 Celebrate Earth Day at Prague's Malešický Park

The Czech Association of Nature Conservators and the Malešice Ekocentrum will hold the 20th annual Earth Day celebration in Prague 10’s Malešický Park on April 20. The event, running from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., will feature a diverse program hosted by 60 organizations focusing on environmental protection, nature, animals, sustainable development, and a healthy lifestyle. The Children and Youth House Prague 4 will also hold an afternoon, children-focused event in Braník on April 20.
