Areas in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic have been fully quarantined due to coronavirus

Olomouc, North Moravia/Kynice, East Bohemia, March 16 (CTK) – Sanitary officers have closed 21 municipalities in the Olomouc Region and Kynice village in the Vysocina Region today to prevent the coronavirus spread, the regional sanitary stations have announced on their websites.

The towns of Unicov, Cervenka and Litovel as well as 18 surrounding villages in the Olomouc area were closed in early morning hours. This measure means that people cannot leave these municipalities and are banned from moving outside their places of permanent residence for two weeks at least.

The measure applies to transport, too. The 248 and 253 exits on the D35 motorway near Litovel have been closed since this morning, the National Transport Information Centre of the Road and Motorway Directorate (RSD) has announced.

Twenty five cases of the novel coronavirus infection were registered in the vicinity of Litovel and Unicov on Sunday evening, and a total of 32 cases in the whole Olomouc Region.

Sanitary officers also decided to close Kynice with some 90 inhabitants in the vicinity of Havlickuv Brod as of 11:00 today, which means that people must not leave the village territory. There were four people infected with the novel coronavirus in the village this morning.

There are some exceptions. People can go to food stores, drugstores and pharmacies, buy animal feed and seek health and veterinary care.

There is neither a GP nor a school nor a grocery in the village. The emergency staff, comprised of its mayor and deputy mayor, met to decide on aid to the inhabitants.

The government has banned free movement of people all over the Czech Republic to slow the further coronavirus spread as of midnight on Sunday, March 15, until 6:00, March 24.

On Saturday, the cabined banned the operation of restaurants, bars and shops except for groceries, drugstores, pharmacies, petrol stations and others as of 6:00 until March 24 and it extended and completed the ban on Sunday night.
