Beck joins the lineup for Metronome Prague this summer

Seven-time Grammy Award winner Beck will headline Metronome Prague, slated for June 19–20, 2020, at Výstaviště Praha Holešovice. Tickets for the festival are already on sale.

The last time Beck performed in Prague was in 1994 at the long-gone Belmondo club, shortly after his first hit single “Loser” was released. He takes his inspiration from David Bowie and David Byrne, among others.

“We’ve been trying to book Beck since the first edition and we’re excited that we’ve finally done it and that he chose Metronome Prague to make his return to the Czech Republic. As Beck usually tours the US and doesn’t get further than Germany in Europe, it will be a singular musical event that will not be repeated any time soon and is a must-see for any music fan.” festival organizer Barbora Šubrtová said.

Beck joins a lineup that includes local rock stars Tata Bojs, Czech rapper Hugo Toxxx, Ukrainian hip hop star Alyona Alyona, UK dream pop duo Still Corners, UK electronic act Underworld, and UK rapper Skepta.

Since then, he has been nominated for 17 Grammys, winning seven, including Album of the Year for 2015’s Morning Phase. as well as 16 nominations and sux MTV Video Music Awards, 10 nominations and three Brit Awards, and two Music Video Awards for Wide Open.

He has collaborated with Philip Glass, Jack White, Tobacco of Black Moth Super Rainbow, Jamie Lidell, Seu Jorge, Childish Gambino, and The Lonely Island. He has also created remixes for David Bowie and Björk.

This year’s festival will also see a new preparation team. Serge Borenstein, Jan Ludvík from the Karlín Group, and Serge Grimaux from the entity that bought the Karlín Forum have joined festival founders David Gaydečka, Martin Voňka and Libor Winkler.

“Joining forces with these experts will help us realize the vision I had with Martin when we built the Metronome Festival. In fact, this is the beginning of a new era, and to underline the importance of this new beginning, we decided to rename the event to Metronome Prague. It will be much more than just a festival! ” Gaydečka said.

“The new partners will help us introduce the best international artists to the audience, give the participants an even more comfortable environment, as we intend to increase the space at Výstaviště Prague where the event will take place to strengthen our common vision and accelerate its growth,” he added.
