What were Prague’s best restaurants in 2016?

Last night, Czech online booking portal Restu.cz announced the winners of their annual Restaurant of the Year poll at a ceremony in Prague’s Břevnov Monastery.

Results were based on more than 100,000 user reviews on the popular restaurant site from across 2016.

And the top award of Restaurant of the Year was won by Prague’s Čestr, the popular steakhouse operated by the Ambiente group.

Čestr Chef Pavel Stranka was also honored with the title of Chef of the Year.

If you want to try the top-voted restaurant of the year, however, you might want to do it soon: Čestr will close in the upcoming months for an unspecified amount of time due to renovations on the State Opera building in which it is located.

In other categories, the Medieval Tavern Dětenice won for Best Environment, and Restaurant Pavillon Brno won for Best Service.

The newly-opened Etnosvět Prague won in a pair of categories for Breakthrough of the Year and Best Vegetarian Restaurant.

In what might be a surprise, Prague’s Meat & Greet Burgerhouse took home Best Burger honors.

Top Czech Restaurant? That award went to Babiččina zahrada in Průhonice. Bílý Mlýn in Liberec was named Best Restaurant outside of Prague.
