In case you have been living in a distant yurt, next Tuesday is the US Presidential election. American expats will be gathering at election parties throughout Prague to watch what one CrowdSauce CZ user has called “the eventual demise of the world.”

And some of those parties are actually going to have really good food, allowing voters, non-voters, and onlookers of all political associations to confront their mounting anxiety with homemade macaroni and cheese come November 8.

The Democrats Abroad election night party will be held at Vinohrady hotspot Hora Haus from 8pm to 4am. Chef Chris Hora, who has cooked for six US presidents, will serve a menu of true American comfort food: tacos, burgers, pulled-pork sandwiches, macaroni-and-cheese balls, and ice cream sandwiches.

No one should have to confront impending apocalypse without booze. Red-white-and-blue shots and pitchers of margaritas will be flowing. Food items are 100 CZK each; cocktails start at 80 CZK.

Is politics through activism more your style? Next Tuesday at Maso a Kobliha chef Paul Day will be dishing up soup from 4 to 7:30pm for the second annual Empty Bowls event.

For 400 CZK guests will be served a nourishing meal in an original piece of studio pottery. Keep the bowl (and the warm and fuzzies) for having supported the Lunch for Children charity.

The self-proclaimed Libertarians at vegan cafe A Maze in Tchaiovna will host an evening of drinks and improv at their November 8 Comedy Improv Non-Election special.

Radlická Kulturní Sportovna is hosting an American-themed night on November 8 complete with beer pong and “American delicacies” and prizes for anyone who arrives in a presidential mask.

Election night festivities at the Globe Café, knowns for its American-expat-pleasing menu of burgers, nachos, wings, and cheesecake, starts at 11pm. A popular election night event, reservations are a must!
