In a move set to bolster ties between the Czech Republic and Georgia while offering travelers direct access to the picturesque Georgian capital, Georgian Wings has announced the launch of direct flights from Prague to Tbilisi.

Starting from May 4 and slated to operate twice a week, every Tuesday and Saturday, the new route will be serviced by Boeing 737-300 aircraft, accommodating up to 148 passengers. It will be first direct flight between the locales since 2022.

"We are glad that we managed to resume the direct connection with Tbilisi," Jaroslav Filip, Prague Airport's aviation business director, states through a press release. "This is positive news for several reasons, for example in terms of enhancing both inbound and outbound tourism. Travelers from both countries enjoy a visa-free regime."

“And there’s more; Georgia is one of the fastest growing economies in the Caucasus region, so we are thrilled that this connection, which also offers interesting economic opportunities as another way to boost international trade between the two countries, will be launched. We believe that the route will become popular with a large number of passengers and will build on its successful past operation.”

Tbilisi, aptly dubbed the Pearl of the Caucasus, promises an array of experiences for travelers from the Czech Republic. From the historic Freedom Square to the iconic Narikala Fortress, boasting panoramic views of the city, the Georgian capital offers a blend of cultural richness and scenic beauty. Visitors can also indulge in traditional sulfur spa experiences or explore the vibrant Mtatsminda amusement park.

“I am delighted to announce the exciting news of Georgian Wings' upcoming direct flights from Prague to Tbilisi, commencing on May 4th," adds Georgian Wings President Shako Kiknadze. "This new route signifies not only a convenient link between two beautiful destinations but also a significant step towards fostering closer ties between the Czech Republic and Georgia."

"This direct route not only facilitates tourism but also opens up promising economic opportunities between our two nations. With Georgia emerging as one of the fastest-growing economies in the Caucasus region, we are thrilled to contribute to the expansion of international trade and cooperation."

As Georgian Wings prepares to embark on this new journey, travelers from Prague can look forward to improved connectivity and service on this new route to the vibrant capital of Georgia.
