Prague’s Christmas transport vehicles made their dazzling debut this weekend, heading out onto the streets of Prague to spread some much-needed holiday cheer.

This year, Prague’s Public Transit Authority will operate three decorated Christmas trams (Škoda 15T ForCity, T3, and the popular popular “grease tram”) as well as a Christmas-bedecked retrobus.

Thousands of Christmas lights, interior Christmas decorations, and Christmas-themed decals will adorn the festive fleet, which was ceremoniously lit on the first Sunday of Advent, Nov. 29, before departing from the Střešovice depot.

All four vehicles together boast more than 13,000 Christmas lights; the 15T with 5,760 electric spark plugs, the T3 with total of 2,400, the social-media-favorite Mazací tramvaj, which has no passengers but lubricates the tracks, clocks in at 3,840 lights, while the retrobus shines 1,120 lights.

Passengers will be able to ride or view the decorated vehicles in action until Three Kings Day which falls on Jan 6, 2021.

For those who want to experience an illuminated ride aboard a festive Prague transport vehicle or catch a glimpse of the passing “Mazací,” trams will depart from the Střešovice depot on line 2, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, alternating in the second and third rotation of the schedule.

The Christmas tram 15T will run from the Motol depot on line 9 in the twenty-third spot and the retrobus will run on working days on line 175 as the fifth in line; on weekends it switches to line 124, in the sixth (Saturday) and fifth time slot (Sunday).

Complete timetables for the DPP Christmas vehicles can be found on the website of the Prague Transport Company.
