What system does Expats.cz use to measure article statistics?

Historically, until 1.8.2024, Expats.cz employed a legacy statistics system. Due to an ever-changing and evolving technical landscape and an increased need for advanced article metric monitoring, we took steps to implement the next generation, far more sophisticated data reporting system.

Our new statistics system was built from ground-up to offer industry-level features aligned with current best practices. The surging trend of bot-driven traffic (estimated to be at around 50% of the overall internet traffic in 2024) required that we took active preemptive measures to protect our partner content for clients from data that is generally considered of lower quality, while at the same time acknowledge that it does not apply to all such traffic. This traffic can include bots, low-engagement human traffic, analytical tools, media monitoring tools, crawlers, AI systems and a growing number of emerging tools.

What data do we consider high-quality?

While not all publishers openly provide this information, we at Expats.cz believe that transparency is key. Below are examples of traffic that we now exclude from the numbers that we now present to you from our new system under high-quality views:

  • Bot/crawler traffic
  • Bad bot traffic (malicious intent)
  • Unsigned bot traffic / low-quality human traffic
  • Analytical tools, AI traffic, media monitoring tools
  • Traffic with no actions - usually automated scripts and similar

Even though some of the traffic above may be beneficial for building SEO and feeding AI tools, the resulting data that we receive following the above filtering is traffic that truly matters the most and carries the best engagement / conversions. The high data quality combined with our very exclusive and highly engaged audience is what makes Expats.cz a truly valuable channel.

What data do we collect for clients?

With the new statistics system, we have an expanded understanding of how each article performs. New metrics now include the following:

  • Total views - A mix of high-quality and lower-quality views without any filtering applied
  • High-quality views - Number of high-quality views with best engagement / conversions
  • Article clicks - number of clicks readers make inside the article
  • Article link CTR - % of clicks from high-quality views - increased accuracy
  • Time on article - average time spent reading or engaging with the article
  • Scroll rate - how far an average user scrolls down the article

How does data compare to our previous system retired on 31.7.2024?

Historical data included all traffic generated on each article, clear of any filtering or limitations of how that data was generated. Due to a global increase in "bot" traffic, further fueled by a boom of AI-driven views, we have taken active steps to ensure our data is now filtered to best present the value each article generates and to provide our clients with numbers that are aligned with industry leading analytics tools. All traffic from 1.8.2024 is now automatically filtered.
