How many extra days off will you get in 2025? The Czech National Bank has released a list of all public holidays in Czechia for next year, giving an overview of when a large part of the Czech labor force can enjoy some added time off.

Czechia has 13 national holidays, and the dates of those holidays are fixed except for Good Friday and Easter Monday. Next year, just like in 2024, 10 public holidays will fall on weekdays.

In 2025, three holidays (Saints Cyril and Methodius Day, Jan Hus Day, and Czech Statehood Day) fall on a weekend. Unfortunately, Czechia doesn't use the "sliding holiday" (or “day off in lieu”) standard that allows for a Monday off when a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday.

All three Christmas holidays in 2025 (Dec. 24 to Dec. 26) take place during the week this year.

Aside from enjoying a long, four-day weekend just after mid-April as Czechia enjoys a late Easter next year, workers could hypothetically enjoy a four-day holiday by taking just one day—Friday—after Labor Day or Victory Day.

Next year, Freedom and Democracy Day (Nov. 17) takes place on a Monday, giving many around the country a free long weekend.

It's also worth remembering the days when, by law, large stores of over 200 square meters need to close in the country. These are: Jan. 1, Easter Monday, May 8 (Victory Day), Sept. 28 (Czech Statehood Day), Oct. 28 (Establishment of the Czechoslovak Republic Day), and Christmas Day. Stores' opening hours tend to be shortened in late December, particularly on Dec. 24 and New Year's Eve.
