June 2017 saw the debut of open-air culture space Kasárna Karlín, an abandoned military barracks in Prague 8’s Karlín district which has become a popular spot for concerts and film screenings with a café and football pitch occasionally popping up in its 1930s-era courtyard.

The line-up of events and activities here has shown no signs of slowing during the colder months and on Friday the venue released its December line-up; there’s some exciting news for locals looking to escape the mall skating-rink circuit.

Kasárna Karlín will debut a new slippery space for trying out your figure eights this month, along with a number of other interesting seasonal events including a December 5th Mikuláš celebration for families (refreshments will be provided by the Prastánek kiosk, a moveable cafe carved from a 300-year-old oak).

Details were scant at press time but we do know that Prague’s newest ice skating venue is scheduled to open to the public on Sunday, December 10 and that Kasárna Karlín is currently seeking volunteers to operate skate rentals and sell hot drinks.

The rink is being presented in association with the district of Prague 8; for updates follow Kasárna Karlín on Facebook or online.
