The international terminal at Los Angeles Airport (LAX) has a stunning new chandelier courtesy of Czech glassmaker Preciosa. The lighting firm worked with Corgan architectural and interior designers to create a dynamic installation that can withstand up to seven degrees on the Richter scale.

Los Angeles is a seismically active area and this was one of the first challenges that Preciosa designer Šárka Olivová and the company's engineers had to address, ensuring that their planned design, materials, and fixings were not only attractive but safe as well.

The installation can be seen from three levels of the airport’s concourse, weighs 4,000 kilograms, and stretches more than 17 meters. It boasts a total of 65 meters of ribbon which includes the RGBW LED strips. Called "A Crystal Swell" the installation is meant to capture the romance of travel with ocean waves.
