Airports throughout Europe have been seeing a lot of unhappy customers this summer season, but Prague's airport might be seeing a few less than others. Václav Havel Airport ranks among the 10 top-rated airports in Europe, going by average Google Maps ratings in a new survey from UK-based holiday rental agency Holidu.

With an average rating of 4.2 stars from over 13,000 reviews on Google Maps, Prague's Airport comes in at number eight among the 100 airports included in the survey. Athens' International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos took home the top spot with a 4.4 average rating from more than 24,000 reviews.

"What time of day do you like the airport the most? We prefer sunrise, but travelers love our airport at any time," Prague Airport wrote on Facebook earlier this week.

"Just like that, we managed to rank among the top 10 European airports according to Google Maps users. Thank you and we look forward to your next journey."

To conduct the survey, Holidu looked at the 100 busiest airports in Europe based on the number of passengers served in 2019. The company then ranked them from top to bottom according to their average rating on Google Maps.

"It’s official – Athens Airport is the best airport in Europe!" Holidu writes of the Greek airport.

"Greece has gotten by relativity unscathed from the European flight mania, with most of the delays being experienced at the departing airports with inbound flights to Greece."

Two airports in the United Kingdom ranked among the worst five airports in Europe, with London's Luton Airport and Manchester Airport both scoring an average Google rating of 3.0 stars. The United Kingdom has been hit especially hard by travel delays and flight cancellations this summer, according to Holidu.

This isn't the only praise that Prague's airport has received in 2022. Earlier in the year, Václav Havel Airport won an Airport Quality Service award from Airports Council International as Europe's best airport serving 15-25 million passengers per year.

Airports in Vienna and Zurich (in the 25-40 million passengers per year category) and Rome (over 40 million passengers per year) were also awarded by Airports Council International, which recognize excellence in customer satisfaction.

That customer satisfaction appears evident from Prague Airport's online reviews.

According to Holidu, these are the top 10 airports in Europe based on Google Maps reviews:

  • 1.Athens International Airport, Greece – 4.4 stars (24,467 reviews)
