Slovenia and Norway impose restrictions for Czech travelers

Slovenia and Norway have imposed new restrictions on travelers coming from the Czech Republic in light of the growing number of coronavirus cases in the country.

On Thursday evening, Slovenia put the Czech Republic on its list of medium-risk countries overnight without warning, reintroducing obligatory two-week quarantine for Czech permanent and temporary residents, according to the Czech Foreign Ministry. This includes travelers who will stay in the country for 12 hours or less.

“As of August 6, 2020, the Czech Republic has again been put on the yellow list that binds the travelers to undergo 14-day quarantine after entering Slovenia. Transit across Slovenia is possible without quarantine if it does not last more than 12 hours,” the ministry wrote on their site. Many Czech tourists prefer crossing Slovenia on their way to Croatia, a popular holidaying destination.

There are several exceptions to the quarantine requirement, according to the ministry. Those exceptions include daily commuters with a certificate of employment, weekly commuters, and more. Find the full list here.  Most of these exceptions, nevertheless, will have to produce a negative COVID-19 test and leave Slovenia within 24 hours.

In the past two weeks, the Czech Republic has recorded more than 200 new coronavirus cases almost every day. A record number of people remain actively infected with the virus. According to epidemiologists in the Czech Republic, the infection remains under control and only a small fraction of patients require intensive care.
