Indulge your sweet tooth at a chocolate festival

Between Oct. 20 and 22, Galerie Harfa will host a Chocolate Festival that will surely delight chocolate and confectionery lovers with stalls full of the sweet stuff, tastings, creative workshops for children, concerts, and workshops (in Czech). You can also celebrate Palladium Shopping Centre's 16th birthday on Oct. 20 with an aerial show, concerts, a photo booth, and a cake cutting plus tasting.

Watch German-language films

A festival dedicated to German-language films from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (all of them with English subtitles), Das Filmfest is at Kino Lucerna and Kino Atlas between Oct. 19 and 24. Its selection includes high-quality mainstream films, documentaries, and films that won accolades at international festivals. 

Explore the world of puppet theater

Between Oct. 20 and 23, the international Nekropolis festival will bring puppeteers from Belgium, Italy, France, Slovenia, Spain, and the Czech Republic to Palác Akropolis. The puppet shows include a Nutcracker ballet performed by vegetables, a small-scale circus, and many others that prove puppet shows are not only fairy tales for children but can also appeal to adults. 

Watch Hitchcock movies or the biography of a contemporary artist

The cycle cursed poet Alfred H., dedicated to director Alfred Hitchcock, continues at Kino Ponrepo with Hitchcock–Truffaut on Oct. 20 and Rebecca on Oct. 21. Explore the life and legacy of visionary artist Christo, who passed away in 2020 through the documentary Christo: Walking on water, which is on Oct. 22 at CAMP.

Immerse yourself into a circus show

On Oct. 20, 21, and 22, Jatka78 gives the stage to in_between, a circus production from Finish-French Circo Aereo. With a set full of mystery,  secret magic tricks, and first-rate acrobatics and illusions, the show explores isolation, fragility, and, most of all, the yearning for human connection.

Hear inspiring speakers

An event that brings together bright minds and new ideas across a range of topics, TEDxUNYP is an English-friendly event that takes place on Oct. 21 at UNYP Arena. Titled Keys to the Future, this year’s event features 15 original live TEDx talks on the main stage on topics such as AI, trend forecasting, self-development, sport, entrepreneurship, climate activism, and more.  

See RuPaul’s Drag Race live or a burlesque show

For fans of drag shows, RuPaul's Drag Race Werq the World brings glitz and glamor to Kongresové centrum Praha on Oct. 22. In a similar vein, Showgirl Nirvana at Theater Royal on Oct. 20 is an unusual spectacle featuring a motley crew of characters engaged in a mix of humor, parody, vaudeville, and grotesque. The operetta Ball im Savoy, which is at the State Opera on Oct. 20, tells a story full of funny conspiracies, romantic tension, and unexpected plot twists.

Learn about modern architecture

The exhibition Frank Lloyd Wright: Principles of Organic Architecture in Photographs of Andrew Pielage opens on Oct. 22 at the Winternitz villa. A long-term project by the American photographer Andrew Pielage, the exhibition documents the complete work of Frank Lloyd Wright, the most important representative of organic architecture of the last century.

Get inspired at a contemporary writing festival

The XV Prague Microfestival of International Writing, Art, Film, Theory, and Performance brings contemporary writing, art, film, theory, dance, music, and performance to Kampus Hybernská between Oct. 20 and 22. The festival’s program includes live readings from acclaimed authors Filip Klega, Lyuba Yakimchuk, Tobias Ryan, Radoslaw Jurczak, Vik Shirley, Paulo da Costa Domingos, Trevor Joyce, and more.

Dance to drum and bass or a band’s first-ever performance

Dutch drum and bass group Black Sun Empire, known for their hard, heavy, and experimental style, will perform at Roxy on Oct. 20 in a show featuring artist Multiplex. The Stylists will perform their first-ever concert at Café V lese on Oct. 20, after years of making music together and releasing an album that will get you dancing.
