A two-day HYB4 SWAP & CLOTHES event is set for Jan. 26-27 at the Hybernská Campus, featuring an ecological mini festival with lectures, film screenings, workshops, vintage sales, and concerts. Organized with Swap Prague and supported by Prague City Hall, the event encourages eco-friendly practices, allowing visitors to create, exchange, and contribute to a sustainable future.

Pay homage to indian and Aussie tradition

Australia-Waitangi Day, commemorating the 1840 signing of New Zealand's founding document, The Treaty of Waitangi, is celebrated by CANZA on Jan. 26 at DownUnder. The event at the revamped venue includes pool tables, darts, and a new menu. Attendees can enjoy live performances by bands like Batik Boys and Rowen Slowcombe, with a CZK 50 entry fee for the entertainment program.

Friday evening also sees a celebration of Indian Republic Day, held at Manifesto Market in Anděl. The event features food, cooking classes, a henna artist, an Indian dance show, and Bollywood music. Admission is free, but to ensure you have the best seats, you can make a reservation here.

Make way for modern art

Jan. 26 sees the opening of a dystopian-surrealist exhibition, Lebensraum, by Slovak artist Marcel Mališ at Prague 7’s Project Artwall. Among other things, it depicts human heads wrapped in plastic bags with logos of companies, commenting on consumerist society's violence and restriction of freedom. The series challenges the illusion of choice and uniqueness in a capitalist society.

See a Cimrman play

The Cimrman English Theater on the evening of Jan. 26 will show one of the first Jára Cimrman plays, The Act. The play, which includes poetry and songs, offers a dark, humorous look at human relationships when three guests attend a married couple’s house.

Get down with serious Swifties

Head over to OX Club on Jan. 27 to revel in the Swifties Par-Tay, which will be filled with U.S. pop superstar Taylor Swift’s greatest hits, live performances and DJs, immersive visuals, and Swift-inspired drinks.

Watch English-friendly Miyazaki and more

Kino Světozor will on Jan. 28 screen an English-friendly version of the newly released and profound animated film – already acclaimed as a masterpiece in Japan – The Boy and the Heron, which explores the themes of loss, love, and transformation. Fans of the Japanese cinematography and Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki will be sure to enjoy this 2-hour film.

The Prague Film Awards (PFA) are back this weekend at Prague 3's Kino Aero, starting Jan. 26 and running till Saturday. It will showcase 24 short and feature films from Czech and international filmmakers from 11 countries. Documentary, fiction, experimental, and animation films make up most of the PFA program this year.
