Beer and Gates|Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates bought a stake in Dutch beer maker Heineken, which owns the Czech breweries Starobrno, Krušovice, and Velké Březno. Gates paid around USD 902 million for a 3.76 percent stake in the Dutch company Heineken Holding, the parent company of brewer Heineken NV, according to the Dutch Financial Markets Regulatory Authority (AFM). Ukraine mural|A mural depicting a Ukrainian girl standing among the rubble of war was unveiled Friday morning from the balcony of the Smiřicky Palace in Prague's Malostranské náměstí. The work commemorates exactly one year since Russia’s widescale invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022. It will be on display for several weeks. Read more in our story.

Wonky lines|Former Prague mayor Zdeněk Hřib, currently first deputy mayor for transport, tweeted a photo of zigzagging lines in Týnská Ulička, accompanied by a caption saying such a "monstrous traffic sign" had no place in the city center. Hřib wrote that he contacted the councilor for transport in Prague 1, Vojtěch Ryvola about the matter, and added that Ryvola "promised me a quick remedy."

Prague history|Smíchov district hasn’t always been a part of Prague. Just 120 years ago on Feb. 22, 1903, an imperial decree elevated the working-class suburb to city status. A year later it was granted the right to have its own coat of arms, which was identical to the one it had been using without permission for over 50 years. Read more in our article.

Orientation survey|Help improve orientation in Prague by taking part a public survey (in English) for the Prague Transport Company (DPP). Your participation in the research will contribute to making Prague easier for everyone, including yourself. In addition to the survey, the research also requires a 90-minute face-to-face meeting at the Palmovka metro station in Prague, and is rewarded with a voucher worth CZK 700.

Snowy weekend|The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) issued several warnings for the weekend ahead, including for strong wind (up to 20 m/s), snow (ranging between 10 and 60 centimeters, depending on the area, with more expected in the north of the country), plus frost and ice (in the south and central part of the country).
