Tram travel in the Prague center will be complicated this weekend as well as the following week as maintenance work will take place along key sections of some of the Czech capital's most-frequented tram routes.
From Oct. 22-23, trams will stop running between the Újezd and Lazarská stops and then between stops between Lazarská and Jindřišská, according to Prague's Public Transit Authority (DPP).
The maintenance works will first affect the section from Újezd to Lazarská on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tram number 2 will run between the National Theater on Palackého náměstí via Jiráskovo náměstí, tram number 9 between Anděl and Lazarská via Jiráskovo náměstí and Myslíková and number 18 from Albertov via Výtoň to the National Theatre.
Line number 22 between Malostranská and Karlovo náměstí will go to Staroměstská and Palackeho náměstí and tram 23 in the direction of Královka to Smíchovské nádraží.
On Sunday, Oct. 23, trams will not run between Lazarská and Jindřišská from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. This applies to lines number 3, 5, 6, 9, and 14.
Some of the trams will follow alternative routes, while others will change their number at selected stops and continue along the route of the line to which they will be converted.
In addition, on Sunday, the replacement service X3 will go from Bílá labuť to Jindřišská and Wenceslas Square, to Lazarská and then to Karlovo náměstí, and then return.
Commuters take note: Due to the repair of the tram line, from Monday, Oct. 24 to Friday, Nov. 4 there will also be a temporary interruption of tram service in the section Karlovo náměstí-Myslíkova. According to DPP there is no replacement bus service.
