Turkey, pumpkin pie, or a vegan feast! A guide to Thanksgiving delivery and meal prep in Prague

The traditional American Thanksgiving holiday may be slightly different for expats in the Czech Republic this year, with venues expected to be closed, anyone that can’t or doesn’t wish to cook will have to collect their meal for takeaway or book a delivery slot and eat the meal at home.

Luckily a number of venues have adapted their usual sit-in experience to allow you to have the same delicious food but sadly without the warmth and atmosphere that eating out usually provides for so many people at this time of year.

There are a number of options including a traditional thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings and even a vegan version for people who don’t eat meat or dairy products but still want to enjoy the full Thanksgiving experience. Here are some of our picks for the best places to order from.

Bohemia Bagel

There are two menus to choose from at Bohemia Bagel, depending on how much you plan to eat! The 695 CZK option includes candied yams and pumpkin pie on top of the turkey main which is made with Grandma's gravy, of course. They also offer a range of pies and wines, so you can eat and drink to your heart's content.

If you want to eat slightly less you can also order the 485 CZK option or if you're really hungry you can get four bagels for 99 CZK.

Delivery/pickup is available November 26-28, with delivery in Prague free for orders over 1,000 CZK and otherwise costing 99 CZK. Pickup is available at Cali Brothers Restaurant. You can order via email until November 22 with more information on their Facebook page.

U Kurelů

U Kurelů offer the full Thanksgiving turkey dinner with all the trimmings! This includes a “house-smoked apple-Cider brined turkey with orange-spiked cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, stuffing and more. Alternatively, for the first time you can get a VEGAN Thanksgiving option, which replaces the turkey with plant-based chicken. They also offer dessert options.

Chef and co-owner Dean Selby explained why they have moved to offering a vegan option. He said:

“We’ve done the vegetarian option for so long and most restaurants do it. If you want to start offering vegan stuff, it becomes more and more complicated, for the kitchens especially if the chefs aren’t proficient in cooking vegan food.

“We have our vegan fried chicken that we’ve been doing, we’ll be marinating it a little differently--we call it a Simon and Garfunkel brine with parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme, then we’ll be doing a rich vegetable stock gravy and mash potatoes with olive oil and garlic instead of butter, then we have a marshmallow sauce that we have mixed with egg but we will use aquafaba, which is chickpea juice, as a thickening agent as well as a vegan stuffing and then we will have a vegan dessert with apples from our garden!”

Cali Brothers Restaurant and Bar

You can choose from November 26-28 to have your Thanksgiving meal delivered or picked up or at Cali Brothers.

There are two menus with the 695 CZK version including brussel sprouts and pumpkin cheesecake. The main is a roasted butterball turkey served with pinot noir turkey gravy plus all of the trimmings!

A cheaper version is available for 485 CZK and delivery in Prague is free for orders over 1000 CZK and otherwise costing 99 CZK.

Globe Bookstore and Cafe.

Fundraising efforts are continuing to help to keep The Globe Bookstore and Café going, but you can still order a thanksgiving dinner for delivery or collection this year. That includes Pumpkin Cream Soup, Turkey with Apple Sage stuffing, all the trimmings and apple pie for dessert. Pre-ordering is essential and the whole meal comes to 650 CZK or 400 CZK for a kids portion.

Jáma Steakhouse & Wine

Jáma Steakhouse will also be offering a thanksgiving meal this year, sister of Restaurant Jama (The Hollow), they have Corn chowder, tender cuts of white and dark turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, as well as pumpkin pie available to order for delivery or takeaway this year. Reservations must be made by 24 November.

MUSA Catering

MUSA Catering is bringing Thanksgiving to your door with turkey, stuffing, and a range of sides to choose from. You can order the meal hot or cold and vacuum packed so it can be reheated later on.

Delivery ranges from 26-28 November and orders over 1000 CZK get 10 percent off.

Take Eat EZ American BBQ & Deli

Take Eat EZ has a number of Thanksgiving options this year from whole turkeys to BBQ beans, cinnamon rolls to lime cheesecake, and an array of beers to wash it all down with! They offer whole turkeys in a citrus-herb brine, half turkeys as well as skinless boneless breasts. Orders are being accepted until November 20 and they will be delivering their goods around Prague on November 25.

Dirty Dog American BBQ

Dirty Dog American BBQ has two different menu options with on priced at 485 CZK and the other at 695 CZK per person. Both options include a pumpkin soup starter and turkey main with the more expensive option also including more sides and a dessert. They are taking orders via email on info@ddstreetfood.cz until Sunday 22 November and will be delivering dinners between 26-28 November.

Culinaria Catering

Culinaria Catering has a wide range of options for a Thanksgiving feast including a tasting menu for 2 or you can pick from various items on their a la carte menu. The tasting menu includes 2 soups, a traditional Thanksgiving plate complete with turkey, cranberry sauce, bacon chestnut stuffing and a choice of vegetables and mashed potatoes and a dessert. They offering a range of desserts including a pumpkin caramel cheesecake.

California Republic

California Republic are offering their Thanksgiving meal via pick-up or on the Wolt delivery app. With Roast turkey and all the trimming plus pumpkin pie, the meal can be purchased for 695 CZK including drink if pre-ordered. If not pre-ordered the price is 795 CZK and they won’t be able to guarantee availability.

Want to find a Turkey and cook yourself? Robertson has an e-shop specifically for Thanksgiving meats including Turkey crowns, breasts, sausage meat, bacon or ham. Prices ranges from 97 CZK for 250g of bacon, to 903 CZK for a fresh turkey.
