In 2024, we polled our readers to get a snapshot of their feelings about life in Czechia, from their perceptions of road safety to the quality of life and dating norms. Following the November election, many of you expressed concerns that life in Czechia could become more challenging. These worries include global tensions over reproductive rights, the discomfort of being an American abroad, and practical issues like Trump’s tariffs potentially leading to a snack tax on your favorite imports. On the topic of welcoming Czechs, a study by global payment service Remitly found that Czechia is the 12th-friendliest country on the globe, scoring higher than the likes of the U.S., Italy, and Portugal. Our readers disagreed vehemently with 66 percent of you saying you don't find Czechs friendly.

Despite it all, when asked about long-term plans in Czechia, nearly half of our readers polled said that they plan to stay long-term, despite new research showing a slight decline in the foreign population.

One of the hottest topics among Expats.cz readers have been the rising cost of living in Czechia. Many of you reported cutting back on cultural events and pub lunches to save money. In a 2023 poll, most readers revealed they live in Vinohrady, which this year overtook historic district of Malá Strana as the priciest neighborhood for rentals. With 75 percent of you planning to move due to costs, it’s clear that rising prices are at the top of your mind.

In 2025, our job market coverage remained among our most popular articles. Polls indicated that the majority of our readers are thriving in work-from-home situations. Regarding work-life balance, however, readers indicated shorter blocks of vacation.
