READY TO BECOME A COLLECTOR? EDUART HAS SOME TIPS FOR YOU

Collect works by emerging artists

  • Put the Academy of Fine Arts, UMPRUM, or other art-oriented university exhibits on your calendar (they usually take place in winter/January and spring/May). Students present their work there.
  • Follow the artist on Instagram. See which profiles are followed by major institutions, galleries, curators, or renowned advisors and get inspired by them.
  • Ask questions. You'll get tips on smaller and alternative galleries that represent young artists.
  • Become part of a community where you will exchange ideas and discover new places together.

Collect works by established artists

  • Follow the exhibition program of established galleries such as Galerie Kvalitář, Karpuchina Gallery, Chemistry Gallery, Zdeněk Sklenář Gallery, Polansky Gallery, and Trafo Gallery. Anyone can come to the public openings.
  • You can also follow individual gallerists such as Jan Dotřel, and Blanka Čermáková, or curators such as Radek Wohlmuth, Petr Vaňous, and Jan Kudrna.
  • Don't be afraid to ask the opinion of curators or gallerists before buying a work of art. The more knowledge, the better.
  • The EduArt team can help you get the contact you need. This is true for individual acquisitions, and for building a more comprehensive collection.
  • Auctions are another option for acquiring artwork. Some of the biggest ones include the Kodl Gallery, or the Adolf Loos Apartment and Gallery. Etcetera focuses on contemporary art. Pre-auction tours are open to the public, don't be afraid to go there.
  • At auctions, be especially wary of fakes, ask for an expert opinion, and consult multiple experts when buying.
