Bar and Books Prague

You need not be in the liveliest, trendiest center of events to be, as far as the world of cocktails is concerned, absolutely “in.” On a quiet side street not far from Prague´s Old Town Square, things are going on behind the bar that you might not even find in the best known clubs full of celebrities and ostentatious entertainment.

With its interior, design, atmosphere, offerings and philosophy, it is a tribute to its New York twin in Manhattan (the Týnská Street location was opened in 2004 as the first non-American branch of this chain that has three locations in the Big Apple). Classic from every angle, it is elegantly decorated in leather and dark wood with a stylish library. The music has no ambition of drowning out your words or thoughts. Providing service are well-mannered people who have a passion in their blood for what they do.

Bar and Books takes pride in its noteworthy portfolio of drinks ranging from the Vesper Martini (shaken not stirred!) to the Raju Papa Double and the Old Fashioned, just as if we were in another time. Sipping drinks politely behind the bar are stylizations of glamorous film stars from the black-and-white era. You will find more here, however, than the cocktails that the establishment cares so much about.

There is also something here for lovers of quality whiskey, brandy, rum, vodka, champagne or wine, and the establishment´s specialty is a generous selection of excellent cigars from Cuba or the Dominican Republic. If you need to put something into your stomach, a club sandwich, mini burgers and even real New York cheesecake are available.

The highest quality in the form of drinks and plates of delicacies is crowned by service that makes serving guests into something more, giving the guest the feeling of being perfectly exceptional.
