Prague will once again host rising stars of the UK stand-up scene this autumn as the Comedy Store takes the stage at Lucerna Music Bar for a night of world-class laughs.
The Nov. 11 event showcases the talents of acclaimed comedians Emmanuel Sonubi, Funmbi Omotayo, and Sarah Keyworth across one evening hosted by master of ceremony Czech musician and actor Ondřej Havlík a.k.a Endru.
London resident Emmanuel Sonubi started his career in comedy only a few years ago, but quickly gained a reputation of "one to watch." He is one of the most sought-after comedians of today thanks to his live comedy shows. Emmanuel's popularity with audiences around the world is growing also thanks to cameos in recent series such as "Live at the Apollo," Comedy Central's "Stand-Up UK" and ITV2's "Stand-up Sketch Show."
Funmbi Omotayo caused a huge storm in the comedy field with his tales of life in the London borough of Hackney, his Nigerian roots, and hilarious everyday observations.
This relative newcomer delivers stories and anecdotes with warmth and confidence.
Thanks to his friendly and instantly likeable style, Funmbi won several prestigious awards, such as the Best Newcomer award at the Black Entertainment Comedy Awards, the Leicester Square New Act of the Year competition, and the Amused Moose's Laugh Off Competition.
Sarah Keyworth
Sarah Keyworth is an award-winning stand-up comedian and writer. Since her first stand-up gig at university, Sarah has quickly become one of the brightest new talents in British comedy.
Her broadcasting career is also on the rise, with a number of TV and sound ideas in the pipeline.
Keyworth appeared on BBC2's "Live At The Apollo" and "Mock The Week," Comedy Central UK's "Roast Battle," ITV2's "Stand Up Sketch Show," and performed stand-up on BBC Radio 4's "The Now Show." Sarah has written and presented her own series "Are You A Boy Or A Girl?" for BBC Radio 4 and co-hosted the hit relationship podcast "You'll Do" for BBC Sounds.
Standup comedy has taken off across the globe over recent decades and has even become a regular staple on the Prague scene.
There are a number of great regular standup comedy nights at venues across the Czech capital, including those that are presented in English. Both Czech and expat comics frequently feature among the rosters and traditionally give the shows some unique local flavor.
