For residents, a well-earned staycation in Prague’s New Town area offers a heady mix of culture, gastronomy, and shopping all within a few square miles. The only real question is where to stay.

For lovers of the boutique hotel experience, it’s time to step inside a new space where chic meets a feel-good atmosphere. The Falkensteiner Hotel Prague, which is part of the Falkensteiner Premium Collection, has just undergone a major renovation.

The hotel is close to Wenceslas Square on the corner of Opletalova and Růžová streets and is superbly central yet quiet. You are 3 minutes' walk from the main station and within easy walking distance of everything the center of Prague has to offer.

“We wanted to create a unique experience for locals,” says Claudio Sturm, CEO of the Falkensteiner Hotel Prague, “a place with a home-from-home feel, where they can relax and indulge in an atmosphere of refined yet casual elegance.”

Much of the credit for this goes to interior designers Aggi Bruch and Bea Mitterhofer. Their idea was to create a nonchalant living room atmosphere alongside contemporary design and colors.

Modern elegance with a breeze of light throughout the interiors. There’s a richness in the details such as the invitingly upholstered furniture in the Living Room, lush plants, and artwork on the walls. These touches also extend to the rooms, giving them a sense of a personal touch.

Of course, first impressions always count, and on entering the lobby yours may well be “it’s so green.” Part of Aggi Bruch’s sophisticated design, “the idea is that with just one step you move from urban cobblestones into a lush green jungle in the city,” says Claudio Sturm.

It’s a welcome that engages the senses and immediately helps you to clear the mind and shake off the fatigue of everyday life.

The greenery and sense of being at one with nature continues onto the terrace and into the heart of the hotel – The Monkey Bar Prague, which has its own distinctive entrance. The bar with its monkey motif and chic jungle vibe is a unique collaboration between the hotel and Monkey 47, a premium German gin that hails from the Schwarzwald.

Order any of the 6 gin-based cocktails or signature cocktails with exotic fruits including graviola or soursop. Take your pick from three rooms with different designs.

An a la carte breakfast is served in the morning, lunch at noon, and cocktails from 4 pm, followed by a tapas menu in the evening. Try the sharing menu which includes veal sweetbreads and chicken strips with kimchi mayo.

With DJ nights Thursday through Saturday, The Monkey Bar is the perfect spot for business or pleasure. Together with the Falkensteiner Hotel Prague, it all adds up to good times. And thanks to their central location you’ll have plenty of reasons to return.
