Glide away: A complete guide to ice skating in Prague this winter

Czechia is getting into the winter spirit with the beginning of Advent, heavy snow, and deep chill. One way to celebrate this festive season is by ice skating – a fun activity for you and the family, no matter whether you’re a novice or a seasoned pro.

This winter season sees over 20 ice rinks dotted around the capital, with a few new interesting additions – such as a new rink right on Wenceslas Square, Smíchov terrace, and Prague 9’s Zahrádky Park. Further afoot, Ice Aréna Kateřinky opened not long ago in Prague 11.

What’s more, the only fully circular ice rink in all of Prague – in Střížkov – has become even bigger this year, reaching an area size of 400 square meters. The Zličín ice rink has also reopened after a short break.

All rinks offer the possibility of renting skates, and the vast majority sell refreshments in the form of warm drinks (i.e. svařák) and food.
